10+ Years on the Roof. Then a Light Bulb Moment.
I spent over ten years in the roofing industry — up on roofs every day, in every kind of Oregon weather. I saw the same thing over and over: homeowners spending tens of thousands of dollars on full roof replacements when, in a lot of cases, the roof had years of life left in it. The real culprit wasn't age. It was moss, algae, and moisture damage that had been left untreated for too long.
The Pacific Northwest is one of the harshest climates for roofs in the country. The rain, the shade, the mild temperatures — it's basically a perfect environment for moss and biological growth to take hold. And once it does, it works its way under your shingles, traps moisture, and starts breaking down the materials from the inside out.
I knew there were professional-grade treatments that could stop this in its tracks — and even reverse a lot of the damage. But most roofing companies weren't offering it. They were in the replacement business. So I started Roof Proof LLC to fill that gap: a company focused entirely on cleaning, treating, and protecting roofs so homeowners could get the most out of what they already have.
